What to visit?

Tunisia lies at the junction of the Mediterranean’s eastern and western basins. It has two long seafronts and a number of invaluable advantages: the country’s proximity to Europe, a mild climate, a sunny winter and a marvellous 1,300 km long coastline. More than half of it is made up of beautiful, spacious and clean fine sandy beaches. The water is so clear that you can see fish whilst you are swimming.

It is on these beaches that Tunisian hotels have been built as part of tourist resorts: Tabarka-Aïn Draham, Bizerte, Tunis, Nabeul-Hammamet, Sousse, Monastir, Mahdia and Jerba. Although Tozeur-Kebili is an inland tourist area, it is equally attractive.

Tunisia has about 700 hotels, evenly-distributed between two star establishments to five-star luxurious hotels, catering for all tastes and holiday budgets. Modest hotels are equally comfortable and convenient.

A few years ago, hotel entertainment was developed and more attractions were added. Tourists have a large choice of entertainment, both inside and outside the hotels: recreational and sporting activities, trekking, excursions, cultural tours, visits to the medina - the ancient town - visits of monuments and archaeological sites, exhibitions, festivals, shopping for handicrafts, restaurants and lively first-class night-clubs.

To help tourists to fully and efficiently get the best out of their holidays, hotels have all the information they need, available at Reception. The Office National du Tourisme Tunisien O.N.T.T. (The Tunisian National Tourist Office) publishes an impressive amount of maps, flyers, and brochures in different languages, providing comprehensive information and excellent documentation. All these free publications are available in local tourist offices in resorts and abroad.
